Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN Enters Everdome’s Metaverse

Updated: Jun 21, 2023

Sauber Motorsports’ new partnership with Everdome will take racing fandom to new heights.

Make way for the metaverse’s newest resident: Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, which has inked a fresh partnership with metaverse company Everdome, making it the first Formula One player in the burgeoning sector.

Everdome uses Ultra-HD photogrammetric scanning technology to create hyper-realistic digital environments, powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. Users can create their own photo-realistic avatars and explore a digital landscape that is almost indistinguishable from our own.

The company’s 2022 programme includes a three-phase, simulated Mars journey, blasting off from Dubai and landing on the Red Planet 123 days later.

The metaverse’s combination of real-world objects, settings, and people drew Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN’s interest, as a means of diversifying fan engagement in an increasingly online world. “Everdome has the expertise and technology we need to create a new sports-viewing, immersive experience,” shares team principal Frédéric Vasseur.

Motorsports enthusiasts may no longer have to content themselves with sitting in the stands. With technology, they could insert themselves front and centre amidst the action, on the tracks or even in the driver’s seat. “The synergy between sports and future technology has never been more apparent,” says Everdome CEO Rob Gryn.

“We’re creating new channels of engagement for brands,” adds CMO Bally Singh, “with the metaverse being a relatively new territory, names and faces customers already know can provide a sense of familiarity within the metaverse”.
